Beware Scams In Online Law Degree Programs

There are scams offline, and there are definately scams online.

Don't believe everything you read on a website about online law degree programs. Research the online institution and make comparisons before comitting youself. It is your responsibility to investigate clims made by online law programs.

A typical scam is the "Money Back Guarantee". No one can guarantee that you pass the exam. When you call on their promise on the refund, they will proceed in giving you all kinds of excuses and point to the fine print of the enrolment contract. Always ask for everything to be clarified in full before paying any money. Sometimes the online institution will be willing to refund your money because they already have you credit card details. They can make use of these for fraudulent purposes or sell your information to retailers who will use this information to market other products to you.

Some online intitutions will promise you a scholarship to pursue an online law degree, then will charge you a "small processing fee". This "small processing fee" is in fact the cost for the useless unrecognised law degree.

Beware of online institutions which make all kinds of promises, for instance,
"you can get your degree in weeks", "no hard work necessary", "full refund if not satisfied - money back guarantee" etc etc.

Some will offer you a "free special report" if you provide them with your credit card details. You don't need their "free special report". You can get all the free information you need online.

If in doubt, always check with the Bar Association in your state, or contact the American Bar Association for accredited online degree programs should you intend to later practice as a lawyer.
